Rupert Murdoch Accepts Chief Executive Rebekah Brooks Resignation

Rebekah Brooks, the 42 year old chief executive of News International and former editor of the British newspaper News of the World has resigned her post.  She gave this press release following her resignation being accepted by both Rupert and his son James Murdoch.

Via The Guardian:
At News International we pride ourselves on setting the news agenda for the right reasons. Today we are leading the news for the wrong ones.
The reputation of the company we love so much, as well as the press freedoms we value so highly, are all at risk.
As Chief Executive of the company, I feel a deep sense of responsibility for the people we have hurt and I want to reiterate how sorry I am for what we now know to have taken place.
I have believed that the right and responsible action has been to lead us through the heat of the crisis. However my desire to remain on the bridge has made me a focal point of the debate.
This is now detracting attention from all our honest endeavours to fix the problems of the past.
Therefore I have given Rupert and James Murdoch my resignation. While it has been a subject of discussion, this time my resignation has been accepted.
Rupert's wisdom, kindness and incisive advice has guided me throughout my career and James is an inspirational leader who has shown me great loyalty and friendship.
I would like to thank them both for their support.
I have worked here for 22 years and I know it to be part of the finest media company in the world.
News International is full of talented, professional and honourable people. I am proud to have been part of the team and lucky to know so many brilliant journalists and media executives.
I leave with the happiest of memories and an abundance of friends.
As you can imagine recent times have been tough. I now need to concentrate on correcting the distortions and rebutting the allegations about my record as a journalist, an editor and executive.
My resignation makes it possible for me to have the freedom and the time to give my full cooperation to all the current and future inquiries, the police investigations and the CMS appearance.
I am so grateful for all the messages of support. I have nothing but overwhelming respect for you and our millions of readers.
I wish every one of you all the best.
Rebekah
Brooks has been at the forefront of what may be an international scandal involving News of the World and it's parent company Newscorp alleged hacking of what some have estimated to be at least 5,000 private cell phones, including a murdered 13 year girl 's voice messages, leaving police and her family to believe she may have still been alive. Interesting enough, "The Fox News Channel" owned by Rupert Murdoch has barely addressed the scandal in any of it's reporting or conservative talk shows.  The Wall Street Journal, also owned by Murdoch, did give the story front page coverage the day after the 168 year old News of the World folded however, along with The New York Times and Washington Post.

Video: Chris O'Donnell on How Republicans Were Out Smarted By the President

All of us on the left should have kept in mind President Obama's decisive leadership when he overruled some of his advisers, who felt the stakes were too high and the outcome too uncertain, and made the decision to finally bring to justice the worlds most wanted terrorist Osama Ben Laden.  Maybe we have misjudged the President in many respects all along.  The Last Word's Lawrence O'Donnell explains how Obama's cool but calculated demeanor is exactly what makes him a great President:

Chris O'Donnell has not always been one of my favorite political talk show hosts.  Yet at a time when political pundits pretend to be experts on any given political subject and love to pontificate about and predict over issues they know as much about as the average guy on the street, O'Donnell's real life experience as Chief of Staff in the United States Senate during events such as the debt ceiling crisis has given him the insight much needed in order to truly understand the inner workings of our political system.

Crazy Congressman Steven King Compares DODT to Debt Ceiling

Crazy Tea Bagger Republican Congressman Steven King of Iowa appeared on Hardball today with Chris Matthews and stunningly compared raising the debt ceiling with the opinions given made by military leaders on "Don't ask Don't Tell" during Congressional hearings.  Of course Peter King, downplayed the disaster which sane political leaders would occur according to experts from everyone in economics to the Better Business Bureau.  King laughingly compared his own "expertise" to the fact that he has talked to those who agree with his crazy ideology to the fact that he's raised a family. Obviously, he gets most of his "expertise" from those brainiacs like Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin.

MSNBC, Please Get Rid of Dylan Ratigan

When will MSNBC get rid off that egotistical asshole Dylan Ratigan.?  He continues to give Republicans exactly what they want every time he blames "Washington" or "both parties" for everything from the fight over the new energy saving light bulbs (enacted by Georgie Bush) to the debt ceiling fight.  I agree Democrats should have fought harder for a better deal in the Health Care debate and during the Franklin-Dodd Finacial deal but listening to Ratigan you'd have thought Democrats did nothing but share a bed with Wall Street and the GOP .  Republicans really don't give a damn what party these lazy pundits blame as long as they blame government because isn't that the point.  Government is bad. And that's all the no nothing public hears.  Especially when Dylan Ratigan says it because man that guy loves to hear himself talk, using every word he's ever heard to make himself sound like he knows what he's talking about.

Midnight Snack - Black Eyed Peas "Where Is The Love"

This song is one of their oldest hits-shot in 2003 during the Bush II Administration.  There was a great deal going on during that tumultuous time - including a war Americans were purposely lied into.  I love the message of this song and I think it's timeless.  One of the best groups ever: The Black Eyed Peas.
Enjoy

Lessons Learned by the Casey Anthony Case

I like most thinking people with an iota of common sense and even a basic knowledge of the case against Casey Anthony for murdering her own 2 year toddler Calee Marie Anthony, know she did it; making the not guilty verdict extremely difficult to accept. The jury did not come to a not guilty verdict based on the evidence, They were provided with over over 300 pieces of it (not including the video and audio tapes, this jury never even bothered to review).  One of the jurors, who prefers to remain nameless, was interviewed yesterday and explained she felt the prosecution never explained how and when Casey Anthony could have made the chloroform and then placed her deceased daughter in the trunk of the car. If this juror and the rest of the jurors had even taken a cursory review of the evidence presented to them by the prosecution these were all answered without even a rebuttal by the defense  Yes, I like many Americans are angry at the controversial verdict rendered by what in my opinion was a lazy and intellectually lacking group of 12 Floridians. No wonder this country elects idiots.

The main purpose of this post was not to rail against a not guilty verdict.  After it came in and Jose' Baez spoke to the public, I felt I gained some insight into Baez's real purpose in taking this case.  Baez never denied Casey murdered Calee Anthony,.  He never denied she had anything to do with  Calee's death. Instead Baez used his time in front of the world's cameras to blast this countries use of the death penalty:  "When my daughter asks me what I did today, I will say: "I saved a life...No matter who does it, killing is wrong...This country needs to stop killing it's people".  (Maybe the prosecution made a mistake in upgrading this case to a death penalty case???)  Pretty, middle class white girls don't get the death penalty. Which is a whole other argument.  The murder of a 2 year old and especially by her own mother's hand, a person she should have trusted more than anyone, then all Casey's lies but mostly the unthinkable way this baby girl's life was taken and her tiny body then thrown away like a piece of trash, understandably affected these prosecutors desision. Casey Anthony, I believe, cold bloodily murdered her own baby and will walk free.  I can't help but be angry over the fact that this little girl (and in reality many little girls, little boys and especially many of those of color) do not receive the justice they deserve.  However, in a civilized society, justice is not given out by a mob.  It is given out by a jury of our own peers, who at times we may disagree with.  If convicted, Casey Anthony most likely would have received the death penalty.  Only this time we would have been the killers.  But, in the words of Jose' Baez, " No matter who does it "killing is wrong....this country needs to stop killing it's own people"

Fox News Accidentally Reports On News Corp Hacking Scandal

I suggest everyone read this News Corp post on Rupert Murdoch's U.K. tabloid "News of the World".

Fox News Accidentally Reports On News Corp Hacking Scandal

Update: Rupert Murdoch has stopped publication of "News of the World" Interesting. I wonder what his real motivation behind this bold move may be.

Midnight Snack: Bob Dylan-"Tangled Up in Blue" (and more)

I haven't been able to write for a couple of weeks and I must admit I was getting a little crazy.  I decided while I get back to working on posts dealing with some of the most serious issues confronting our country,  I  would post a compilation of a man in his 71st year of life and a person I consider one of the foremost geniuses of our time.  I dare anyone under 80 to disagree.  Enjoy Mr. Bob Dylan:

Happy 18th Birthday Hayley!

I've never written a personal message on my blog.  But Hayley is very special to me and so is my homegirl, her mother and my BFF, so tough shit. I love you guys; have a great life Hayley.  You're beautiful, smart and have so much to look forward to. So please don't do the things your mother and I did, you know like being so good we were  totally boring.  BTW, you might want to keep that part to yourself because you know how people lie and make up bad stories about really good girls.  And please don't ask your grandmother about us at your age, she's getting older and would most likely get us confused with some misbehaving brats. You know what good kids we were. And if anyone tells you we sneaked out at Fort Clark and got caught making out with a bunch of boys:  That's just a big fat lie.

Just have fun being young, (not too much). GO TO COLLEGE OR YOUR MOTHER, YOUR GRANDMOTHER AND I WILL KILL YOU, (and Davy said he would too SERIOUSLY) LUV YA, AUNT ANITA MURIE

Anne Coulter Makes Fool of Herself Pretending She Understands Economics

Why in the hell is Anne Coulter even invited on Sunday Morning News Talk Shows experts are invited on to discuss important current events and political issues?  Ms Coulter is notorious for the many outrageous, evil, racist  remarks she more than occasionally decides to pull out of her bony little ass.  During this particular show, little Annie makes a total fool of herself by trying to give an exceptionally distorted history of Keynesian economics.  My favorite part is Elliot Spitzter kindly explaining to Coulter "your story would be nice if true, but it's not".   Spitzer then left her speechless as he gave a correct explanation of Keynesian economics.  If poor Ann wasn't emotionless she might have cried.  The only thing Anne Coulter knows is how to be is crude, rude and socially unacceptable.  Oh and wrong about everything.

To my Readers: Forgive Me if They Give Me the Good Drugs ( life saving medications) in the Hospital

Today Readers, I am having some minor surgery I've been putting off for months. The reason I've been procrastinating having it done for so long is, because in all honesty hospitals terrify me..  The only thing I find remotely positive about hospitals is they do give the best drugs medications to relieve pain and help me relax.   The bad news is these same drugs medications also make make me say and do things I would rather never be reminded of (if I even remember doing them in the first place). My point in telling you all this is I'm terrified I'll post something incredibly stupid and embarrassing while I'm still high as a kite. So if happen to humiliate myself while I'm drugged up and I'm not fortunate enough to remove this particular post quick enough,.I hope you'll understand why I'm making absolutely no sense (unless you happen to be high too).  Wish me luck.  Peace and Love to All.

P.S. I won't be posting much during my recovery but I do promise to be back.  I hope you'll join me.

Loretta Lynn Celebrates Family Planning in her Classic Single "The Pill"

I posted this last summer but I think recent events have Loretta Lynns's celebration of the birth control pill and the freedom it's inception gave to women.  So I thought it deserved another go around to prove how wide spread and how long it's use has been.  Let's face it the birth control pill changed everything for women and made it feasible for women to compete in what was once a "man's world".  And Rick Santorum and those like him don't like this because they fear it.
There are 8 (now 11 and counting) states where United States Republican legislatures are not only attempting to take away a woman's right to terminate a pregnancy, they're even attempting to take away a woman's right to family planning. I think Loretta Lynn might have objected.. Listen to her sing "The Pill", a classic way back in 1965 when married women finally won the right to birth control.  So once again enjoy:

This song written and sung by popular country western singer, Loretta Lynn, has been partially credited for making the birth control bill a respectable form of family planning and giving women opportunities they may never have had.  Thank You, Loretta Lynn!
