Why is Anyone Surprised by Crazy GOP Candidates?
I find it truly amazing that anyone is surprised by this year's GOP crop of presidential candidates. Come on, we all, (those living in the non Fox filled reality world), know Ronald Reagan lowered the bar just a bit in 1980. While Georgie Bush Jr. just threw that bar on the ground and stomped on it.. In other words, there is no bar when it comes to GOP candidates since Dwight D. Eisenhower, (congressional or even presidential). In 2010, the Republicans gave us deadbeat dad Joe Walsh, another guy who liked to dress up in Nazi uniforms, Joe, "you lie", Wilson, Michelle, those founders did a great job getting rid of slavery, Bachman, Steve " gotta stop those baby terrorist, King, Allen, "I have a higher security clearance than the President and like to put guns to the heads of prisoners, West and on and on crazy crazy, crazy (and/or stupid). So those gentlemen and one lady certainly represent exactly what the Republican party has become. They either have no sense of history, no intellectual curiosity, no integrity, or a combination of all or some of these undesirable personality traits. And why shouldn't they? They are the leaders of a group of people who are exactly like them. They cheer for the death penalty being performed as much as possible withour losing a wink of sleep over the possibility of killing an innocent man. They cheer for the death of a 30 year old man, dying because he had no health insurance. And they showed their true colors when they jeered a gay marine while he was still stationed in Iraq. Some have referred to the Republican primary as looking like a circus. I think it looks more and more like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
This Country May Not Survive Another Republican Rule
It's a an old but true cliche: "The more things change, the more they stay the same". Those of us old enough to have been in these United States pre the George W. Bush regime know conservatives have been attempting to dismantle the New Deal and anything in the way of "their free market ideals" for decades. And they will use any means possible, (and anyone who temporarily serves this purpose), to complete their single minded task. This includes the Christian right (whatever you may be calling yourselves these days), the "right to lifers", the pro gun lobby, the racists and the religious and sexual orientation bigots, etc.. If a particular issue can be used like a shiny trinket to make you turn away from the real issues that do affect what we now (correctly) refer to as The 99% it will be, time after time. Because until now (perhaps), this has worked superbly. I am happy to see the Occupy Wall Street movement finally come to being. I just wish it had started just a little earlier (like a least a decade ago when Wabya was lying us into wars and getting elected without being able to complete a coherent sentence). This may have been going on for decades, [dismantling of the New Deal], but Bush sure put it into supersonic overdrive. He and his cohorts messed up this country like a bunch of freshmen college drunks, bent on burning down the whole freshmen dorm on a dare. Only these weren't college kids, these were leaders of the most powerful country on earth. And they weren't burning down a single campus dorm but a whole country. They destroyed our financial system. They destroyed our environment and allowed an infrastructure which had been envied worldwide to become close to obsolete. They destroyed the reputation of the world's once most respected nation. They destroyed our public education system. They tore through every thing they could get their greedy, powerful hands into. They took away some of our very constitutional rights, in the guise of national security. And they are all very wealthy now thank you. Thousands of men and women died in that war they lied us into. Many more were sent home injured. Bush nor any of his Republican cronies probably can't name even one of them. Thousands and thousands more innocent Iraqi civilians died. When Bush left office one American city had been almost completely destroyed. Other cities and towns are left crumbling. Bridges are literally falling, mines are collapsing and oil pipes are bursting, devastating our Gulf and it's wildlife. States no longer have the financial resources to help them if they wanted. So although I wish OWS might have started much sooner at least someone is finally speaking up. Cleaning up decades of debris, especially all the financial debris, won't be easy and it will take time. It will be messy. We've already seen that. Their will be those who will fight us 99%', tooth and nail for nothing but another buck off our back. Fighting will mean never giving up and never getting so comfortable as to allow this to happen again. We must fight the way they fought us only without the dirty tricks of the Karl Roves. We must fight politically. From the school boards to the White House, we must elect REAL DEMOCRATS. But like President Obama has learned we must learn, some will use every dirty evil trick conceived of to fight even the smallest steps we may make. And finally, we can not win fighting each other. We may not agree on everything and we certainly won't agree on every way to get there. But I truly believe this country cannot survive another Republican rule. So we better get it together or perish together.

The Shocking Rise and Fall of a Fictional GOP Frontrunner

The Onion, the nation’s leader in fake news, recently reported on the stunning rise and fall of a GOP presidential candidate.
Comatose John Clarkson, the GOP hopeful who soared into the front-runner position based on excellent initial polling numbers and a sensational debate performance withdrew from the race following a sex scandal. The sex scandal, of course, is not surprising for a Republican; what’s surprising is that it was not a gay sex scandal.
Let me repeat that: A Republican was caught in a sex scandal that did not involve a bathroom stall or a young man paid to “talk” or “carry luggage.” Shocking!
The exit of Clarkson from the race came on the heels of an outstanding debate performance, one in which the man who has been in a coma since 2003 displayed much more charisma than Rick Perry and a stoic silence that allowed more time for Mitt Romney to further bury himself by talking about health care.
Even before Clarkson, a former congressman, had jumped into or, more accurately, been wheeled into the race earlier in the week, it was clear from his initial poll numbers that he had qualities that other GOP candidates lacked.
Polling indicated that Clarkson was more likeable than Romney, looked more engaged during public appearances than Perry, and was considered much more electable than Ron Paul or Michelle Bachmann. Clarkson would have been considered more electable than Newt Gingrinch and Rick Santorum had Americans realized that those two were still in the race.
It wasn’t all about appearances for Clarkson, who despite being intractable never said an unkind word about anyone; it was also about policy for the man who, according to Clarkson’s Facebook page, “does not talk any talk or walk any walk.” Most Americans believe that Clarkson had to have a better plan for taxes than Herman Cain’s 9-9-9, which raises taxes on the lowest 84% of Americans while giving tax cuts to the super rich (like Cain himself).

Ding Dong the Witch is Dead! With the support of both the United States and NATO, Libyan dictator Khaddafi was killed yesterday at the hands of his own country's rebel forces. Watch Jon Stewart on The Daily Show's reaction to Republican critics after another National Security success by the Obama administration.
Aren't these the same Republicans who enthusiastically supported an unnecessary war in Iraq which lasted almost 9 years, cost over a trillion dollars, resulted in the death of over 4,000 American servicemen and women with another 50,000 U.S. soldiers injured and 10's of thousands of innocent Iraqi lives, yet criticized President Obama's decision, supported by NATO and the Arab league as well as the Libyan people. And prevented the slaughter of thousands of Libyans after they were threatened by Khaddafi without costing a single American life and cost less than a billion dollars. A decision which resulted in less than 8 months of American involvement, not one boot on the ground in Libya, not one American troop death and the successful end of Khaddafi's 42 year dictatorship and reign of terror which included the killing of over 270 U.S. service personal's lives in the Pan Am bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland among many other terrorists acts attributed to the Libyan dictator. President Obama's success in areas which do not require Congressional involvement only prove how much success he may have had without the unprecedented amount of Republican obstructionism we have seen used against this President. Hopefully in 2012, this country can finally get back on track if we rid ourselves of those who get in the way of progress.

President Obama announced today "America's war in Iraq will be over" and "our troops will definitely be home for the holiday"s as he "promised as a candidate for president". Additionally, he stated that "the last American soldier will cross the border of Iraq with their heads held high and proud of their success...". The President also announced a severe cutback in troops in Afghanistan-cutting them by half by the end of the year with continuing troop withdrawals.

President Obama promised an end to the war in Iraq by the end of 2011 and today he has kept that promise. This will only add to the President's recent National Security successes but don't expect anything but criticism from Republicans.10/12/2011

Boston Police Throw American Flag to Ground - Do "They" Hate America?
Imagine a group of Progressives throwing an American flag to the ground. This would be the lead story for days on "The Fox News Show"- proof that all those dirty, leftist, radicals hated America and of course, along with everything Obama, wanted nothing less than the overthrow of capitalism. One problem: the flags torn down by the Boston Police Department, (the American flags), were put up by veterans who had been camped out with the 99% since Monday. Watch:
According to Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis over 100 arrests of peaceful protesters were made, including a female Iraq War veteran. The Boston Police told the media to leave and not film proceedings. The only video available was from a live stream being broadcast by an onlooker. This was one of the largest mass arrests in recent Boston history.
